Live scoring changes the feel of an event. Without it, most golfers have no idea where they stand until the round is over. With it, the tournament becomes something players can follow while they are still competing.
How live scoring works in Parfour
Players access the event from their phone and enter scores during the round. As scoring information comes in, the leaderboard updates. That allows the rest of the field to see how the tournament is developing.
You do not need 4 people scoring every group
A common concern is that live scoring means every golfer needs to stare at their phone. It does not. An organizer can have 1 person keep score for the group. That keeps the workflow simple while still producing a live leaderboard.
Gross and net competition
Different tournaments care about different results. Competitive players may want gross standings. Handicap events may prioritize net scoring. Showing multiple views gives different types of golfers a reason to follow the tournament.
Admin score corrections
Mistakes happen. Someone taps 5 instead of 4. An admin should be able to correct a scoring issue without turning the tournament upside down. Parfour gives tournament admins control over event scoring.
Live scoring creates energy
Imagine walking off the 15th green and knowing your team is 1 shot back. Now the last 3 holes feel different. That is the point. A leaderboard turns a round of golf into a tournament people are actively following.
Spectators can follow too
Live information is useful beyond the golfers. Organizers, families, friends, sponsors, and others interested in the event can follow what is happening without waiting for someone to post final results.
Bring the leaderboard into the clubhouse
Parfour includes a TV display experience so live event information can be shown on a larger screen. Now players coming off the course can immediately see where they finished. Sponsor branding can also become part of the display experience.
The leaderboard stops being a spreadsheet and becomes part of the event.
