Why paper still works
Golfers understand paper. There is no learning curve. A card works without WiFi. Many competitive golfers also like having something physical they can review with the group. Paper is not the enemy.

The problem comes after the round. Someone needs to collect cards. Someone needs to check totals. Someone needs to enter results. Someone needs to deal with handwriting. Then the field waits.
Digital scorecards remove the bottleneck
